Conflict of Interest

Code of Ethics, City of Keller, page 9 paragraph 6:

Disclose, as a matter of record, any substantial direct or indirect financial interest in any matter requiring official action, and shall not participate in any vote or decision on a matter in which they have a direct or indirect interest.

On March 18th, Cinch Cleaners at 377 and 1709 received City Council approval (3 for, 2 against) to renovate an existing metal building for a Laundromat business.  Becky Harness, owner of Old Town Quilts, spoke against the approval.  City Councilman Mark Harness, her husband, subsequently voted against approval.

Given the direct financial interest,  Mr Harness should have recused himself from this vote.

If elected, I would respect our City Ethics Code and recuse myself from any City Council agenda item that had any direct or indirect conflict of interest issue for me.
