As your councilman, I would support a modest Public Arts Board budget to support public arts programs - particularly projects that included major funding from sponsors. The Veteran's Memorial Park project is an excellent example of what can be accomplished by working together. Public art is an investment in our community. It pays dividends as it brings us together, honors our values and "showcases" our city. It also indirectly encourages quality economic development. The Veteran's Memorial piece "Protector of Freedom" is an excellent example of our community working together. The Keller Rotary Club built the Veteran's Memorial Park on the corner of 377/1709 (under the old water tower). Keller Rotary committed $25,000 to the project. The Greater Keller Women's Club contributed $10,000 to the project. And the City of Keller committed $55,000 to the project. By partnering, Keller will have a beautiful, 12 foot tall bronze monument honoring our veterans on the busiest street corner in our city.
Our city has received great return on our investment!

Election Day:
From 2003 to October 1, 2007, Keller acquired nine pieces sculpture - 5 completely paid for and 3 partially paid for by sponsors. The cost to the city has been very modest, with thousands of dollars in sponsorship money lightening the load In addition, the PAB hosted 4 major art shows (Brushes to Bronze) and 5 small shows (Circle of Arts).
